Power bases
1:56pm - Dec 5, 2009
Not a maths question this time but one about political power bases.
For sometime I thought the Romans brought us many things but really they were just thieving invaders like all the rest.
Thieves of culture in the main and thieves of our time and goods as well of course.
Not only were they unwelcome but they outstayed their unwelcome as well, for they hardly integrated unlike the next mob.
Since it seems we are mostly from Danish stock, boiled in Saxon and others it is difficult to say who we wish had never come here to England.
The ancient Britons went away to Wales and Cornwall we are told but even they are no longer pure whatever that is, as they have a bit of Spanish as well from old times.
Alfred interestingly foisted rules and more boring rules on our lives even before the Romans and if the Danes had won some strategic victories we'd all be speaking Danish now. From what I hear, Vikings are only that when they go a Viking (pillaging, land grabbing, slave hunting, you know, stuff like that) otherwise they are just your average Dane.
Today is different, but not by much. We have the power bases in the Veruca called London but they of course are run by big businesss like Asda and Tesco all foriegn owned.
